For the past six months, the Central PA Chamber of Commerce has been working with Jim Baker, from SEDA-Cog’s Information Technologies Group, and Daniel Gasteiger, from CSSI in Lewisburg, to bring to fruition their vision to form a local IT Users Group.
Interested businesses and individuals are encouraged to attend the next meeting, to be held at Evangelical Hospital on June 21st at 8 am in the Wood Mode A conference room in the ER Wing.
The group is currently working on adding an “Ask the IT Professional” feature on the Chamber’s website and in the monthly newsletter, the development of IT workshops and events geared to technology purchasers and users.
Whether you are a seasoned IT professional or just happen to be the IT “Go To” person in your company, regardless of your level of expertise, you will find this forum will help answer your questions! The group is made up of IT professionals, business owners, IT staff, web designers and other individuals looking to understand and use technology more effectively.
Anyone interested should call the Chamber at 570-742-7341 or go to the Chamber Event calendar on the Chamber’s website at http://www.centralpachamber.com for additional details and information.

The second meeting of the IT Users Group met in the Woodmode Conference Room at Evangelical Hospital on March 22, 2007 at 8 am.
Thanks to Dale Moyer and Evangelical Hospital, for their great hospitality! (The sticky buns were great!!)
Attendees:
- Dale Moyer, Evangelical Hospital
- Tam Chomas
- Dale Chomas, DDS
- Marcia Sherman, Delmarva Data Systems
- Rochelle Mausteller, Susquehanna Fire Eq.
- Max Foust, Susquehanna Fire Eq.
The group discussed operating an Online forum for members to submit questions and receive answers from other members. Dale Moyer agreed to research and report back at the next meeting.
Several suggestions for educational seminars were discussed, including Microsoft Vista, and a traveling van that features networking, Voice Over IP (VOIP), and other systems.
Marcia Sherman noted that Delmarva Data is working on a Disaster Planning/Recovery Program which could possibly be the subject of a future meeting or seminar.
As with any new group, we are looking to increase our attendance and provide quality information for members. We discussed future programs, meeting times and dates. Input is welcome from anyone interested in our group. Please contact Max Foust by email for more information.
The next meeting is scheduled for May 17, 2007, 8 am, at the Central Pennsylvania Chamber Conference Room, 700 Hepburn Street, Milton, Pa.
The IT Users Group was formed in conjunction with the Central Pennsylvania Chamber of Commerce and SEDA-COG. If you are interested in learning more about computers and systems, or would like to contribute your particular expertise, you are invited to attend.
If you would like to attend our next meetings and be included on the mailing list for the group, please email Kari Walgran.
